Bear Facts A Teddy Bear History

Ted Hebert began Teddy Bear Pools in 1975, operating out of his family’s house in East Springfield.  When he started, there were only four employees.  The company sold, installed, repaired and serviced in-ground and above-ground pools.   Teddy Bear is a play on the French pronunciation of Ted Hebert.  (It was also Ted’s nickname as a young child!)  When his mother first suggested it as a business name, Ted was not convinced it was really appropriate. After thinking it over, he realized that the Teddy Bear symbol was friendly and family-oriented, a good representation of a business that was centered around home and family; it was easy to remember and very friendly so he incorporated under the name Teddy Bear Pools.
