Hello there, my name is Ted Hebert, owner of Teddy Bear Pools & Spas. For me, this isn't just a business, it's a lifelong passion that began when I was just 14 years old. I started as a "Go-For" at a local pool store, little did I know that this humble beginning would lead me to where I am today.
Fast forward 58 years, and Teddy Bear Pools & Spas has become my second home. It's not just about Pools and Spas– it's about people like you who make it all possible. My incredible team of employees, many of whom have been with me for over three decades, are more than just colleagues–they are my family. Together, we work tirelessly to bring the best Pool and Spa experiences to your backyard, all while making a difference in our community.

From Humble Beginnings
Our journey began over fifty years ago with a dream and a commitment to bringing your backyard dreams into reality. Our founder, Theodore “Teddy” Hebert, initially found his calling at just 14 years old, working as a ‘Go-For’ for a local pool store, where his passion was ignited for Pools & Spas.
At just 19 years old, Ted was already building above-ground pools and in-ground pools as a subcontractor along with his friends. It was during those early years that he absorbed the skills and knowledge of the trade.
In 1973, Ted took a bold step forward and started his pool business, Custom Pools by Ted—operating out of his mother’s carport. Ted’s mother encouraged him to change the name to “Teddy Bear Pools” because Ted Hebert, when pronounced in French, phonetically sounds like “Ted A-Bear.”
In 1977, with the growth of his business, Ted rented a local car wash bay in Chicopee to run his business operations, marking a significant leap in his journey. However, in 1979, the rented property faced foreclosure, leading Ted to seek a new home for his business. With that search, Teddy seized the opportunity to purchase a small car dealership in Chicopee, which would become the cornerstone of Teddy Bear Pools & Spas. With that acquisition, Teddy Bear Pools & Spas had a place to call home. From humble beginnings, Teddy Bear Pools & Spas was founded in the heart of Chicopee, MA.
In 1995, Ted expanded our operations by securing a 25,000 square-foot warehouse in South Hadley. This strategic move not only provided ample space but also marked a pivotal moment in our growth. With this acquisition, we optimized operations, stored pools, spas, and accessories efficiently, and housed our fleet of 35+ vehicles. This step forward enhances our capacity to better serve our customers.
Ted's relentless determination and early expertise in crafting pools, along with his unwavering commitment, have played a crucial role in shaping our company today. His passion and hard work, evident from a young age, continue to inspire us as we fulfill your backyard dreams with the same dedication and skill.
